Under Developed Areas Programme
The Under Developed Areas Programme (UDAP) was launched during 2003-04 with an allocation of Rs. 1000.00 lakhs. The Backward Area Development Programme which was introduced in 1980-81 with an allocation of Rs. 125.00 lakhs was taken over from the Planning Department during 2003-04. These two programmes have been merged under a single nomenclature called the Under Developed Area Programme (UDAP) from 2007-08.
Under this programme, the Department plans to cater to sectors such as road, health, education, agri & allied, signage post, distribution of solar light, culverts, water supply, retaining wall, footsteps, rest houses, community halls, play grounds, drainages, rural housing etc. Besides, various human resource development programmes are incorporated in the programme. Special grant and award for meritorious students of the four backward districts has been initiated to encourage the students to excel in their academics. Under the capacity building programme, the Department has undertaken multi-skill Development training and training on cane & bamboo furniture making & handicraft.
