Activities on Road & Infrastructure during 2013 to 2017-18

Infrastructure deficit is a major concern in Eastern Nagaland. Improving connectivity and strengthening infrastructure are two important preconditions for social and economic development. Since road connectivity is a major deficit in the Eastern region, the department has connected unconnected villages, constructed culverts, retaining walls and built bridges over the years. Activities on Solar Energy during 2013 to 2017-18

Most of the villages and townships in Eastern Nagaland have been connected with electricity supply  except for some newly established villages and settlements. However, the village and town streets have not been lighted. Moreover, in spite of electrification, maintenance of powerline is an area of concern. Taking cognizance of this issue, the department has installed Activities on Solar Energy during 2013 to 2017-18

Activities on Research & Expert Studies during 2013 to 2017-18

One of the objectives of DUDA is to, “carry out other research and expert studies with a view to bring these districts at par with the rest of the State.” In line with this objective, the Department has actively undertaken research studies in order to understand the disparities and the gaps that exist in Eastern Activities on Research & Expert Studies during 2013 to 2017-18

Activities on Health Sector during 2013 to 2017-18

In health sector the department has provided medical equipment in all the 4 district Hospitals, 5 Community Health Centres, 34 Primary Health Centres and 116 Sub- Centres  totalling  up to 159 Health Centres. Besides, the department has also constructed buildings for health care and conducted Medical Camps all across Eastern Nagaland.

Activities on Education Sector during 2013 to 2017-18

Since 2011-12, DUDA has been providing Special Grant to the students of six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland, where many students have benefitted from this programme. The department also observed that most of the HSLC students in Eastern Nagaland were failing in HSLC examinations due to weak performance in Science and Mathematics subjects. Development through community participation, Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS), Tuensang

This programme is aimed at enhancing income through promotion of livelihood programme. The Department has carried out this project through the Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS), Tuensang. The project primarily focused on the following sectors; Promotion of intensive skills on pig rearing. Promotion of mother and child care through outreach and conduct surgery camps. Training on Information Technology (IT) for Masses (Underprivileged ST youths & women of Backward areas) under the Digital India

In line with the Government of India (GoI) policy on IT for Masses under the Digital India and manpower development plan scheme; DUDA, in collaboration with National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima is empowering the youths and women of eastern Nagaland through ICT skill training. DUDA in association with NIELIT have set Training on Information Technology (IT) for Masses (Underprivileged ST youths & women of Backward areas) under the Digital India

Skill Building & Manpower Development Programmes

Considering the need for skill development in Eastern Nagaland, the Department has engaged training providers such as Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Tabitha Craft & Design Resource Centre, NST Drivers Training Institute &Zynorique Initiatives Society and have  trained 570 unemployed youths under the following training programmes; Training for Heavy Construction Equipment Operators. Establishment of Market Linkage Hub

DUDA in partnership with Zynorique Initiatives Society (ZIS) plans to streamline and maximise the income generating activities in rural areas by creating market linkage strategy for trained artisans. DUDA has set up a retail outlet by the name “Anghya Retail Outlet & Coffee Shop” for ENPO people at Midway Resort on the Highway between Kohima Establishment of Market Linkage Hub
