Considering the need for skill development in Eastern Nagaland, the Department has engaged training providers such as Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Tabitha Craft & Design Resource Centre, NST Drivers Training Institute &Zynorique Initiatives Society and haveĀ  trained 570 unemployed youths under the following training programmes;

  • Training for Heavy Construction Equipment Operators.
  • Multi skill development training for backward tribe girls.
  • Advanced training on Cane & Bamboo furniture & handicraft.
  • Food processing, packaging & marketing.
  • Wood carving.
  • Metal fabrication.
  • Mechanised woodwork.
  • Plaster of Paris (POP) moulding.
  • Driving lesson.
  • Food Production & Management.
  • Hospitality (Homestay).
  • Food Preservation & Marketing.
  • Small Coffee Shop Management.
  • Training on Catering Management.
  • Village level Tourist Based Event Management.
  • Eco friendly Souvenirs.
  • Bouquet and Corsage making.

In addition to the above skill building activities, to boost the local economy and to upgrade the marketing skill of the backward people, DUDA in partnership with the District Administration sponsor Apple Festival and Kolar Festival in Pungro Sub-Division of Kiphire District annually.

Further, about 60 DUDA BADP trained artisans have established their units and are registered under Craft Council for their livelihood. Every year, the trained artisans are sponsored by DUDA during the Hornbill festival for exhibition cum sale of their products. Eleven students have availed Diploma in Engineering through the BADP programme and have passed the theory course and also undergone Diploma practical training in Pune. The building construction trainees (RCC) are provided with jobplacement by the Zynorique Initiatives. Beauty & Wellness trainees are also getting good opportunities in job placement.

Through the training providers such as Zynorique Initiatives Society, M/s Pinnacle Skills, Craft Council Nagaland, M/s Salon Blue, NIIT and NTTC, Dimapur, the Department has been able to train 341 persons under the following programmes:

  • Bamboo/Wood craft & tailoring.
  • Plaster of Paris.
  • Beauty & Wellness.
  • Diploma in Computer Application (DCA).
  • Multi Skill in Welding.
